Doulas Do Not

Perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure checks, fetal heart rate checks or vaginal exams. We are there to provide physical comfort, emotional support, and advocacy.

Make decisions for you. We will help you to gather the information to make an informed decision, and remind you if there is a departure from your birth plan.

Interface with medical professionals regarding clinical decisions about the birth of your baby. We will be there to discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff.
